There are so many methods to use location sharing that it might be perplexing, yet all of them are linked to the same service. Let's see how they all connect. There are two options for sharing your location with others: temporary and permanent. We'll start with temporary sharing via the Messages app. Open the Messages app and click on the New Message button. Type the message you want to send and select Send & Cancel from the drop-down menu. Click on the Location icon in the top-right corner of the screen. A map will pop up. On the map, mark the spot where you want to share your location. Press the Home key to hide the map and return to the main screen. Your friend will receive a notification that you have shared your location. They can then open the Messages app and view your current location on the map.
Permanent sharing works exactly the same way but instead of sending a message, click on the Create Note button. The note will include a link to your location. When your friend clicks on this link, they will be guided to your current location on the map. They can then add information about yourself by typing into the box or drawing on the map. When you're ready, click on the blue Save button to save your note.
Sharing your location also connects you with other users around the world. If you find locations that interest you, you can visit them directly from the map.
Now you must decide with whom and for how long you want to share your Android location in real time. You can edit your settings at any time by returning to the Google Maps app and clicking on the menu icon again. Scroll down to the Settings section and click on Manage Users to make changes or add/remove people from your list of location publishers.
