Create a Policy for Network Documentation: A network documentation policy serves as a roadmap for your goal. It should include what is expected of staff members responsible for documenting networks. Documentation standards are also helpful in maintaining a consistent look and feel across all networks. For example, if you normally write in AP style, then using that same format in all your documents keeps everything coordinated.
Finally, having clear guidelines around who is responsible for which tasks makes it easier for staff members to know exactly what they can and cannot do. For example, if someone cannot be found during an emergency, they should be able to hand over their responsibilities to another member of the team.
After you have created your policy, be sure to review it with staff members so there are no doubts about what is expected of them. If necessary, you can also add notes regarding specific situations that may not have been considered when drafting the policy. For example, if some staff members are only able to work during certain times of the day, this could be noted under "staff availability" on page one of your policy document.
The current editions of Cisco's own books, Cisco CCENT/CCNA ICND 1 and CCNA Routing and Switching ICND2, are the finest tools to prepare for the CCNA exam. We highly recommend the "31 Days Before" series, which is available through Cisco Press as well. Make a point of going through the practice questions and lab tasks. These will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses and help you focus your study time on those topics that need more attention.
